Dysgraphia Week Two – Teacher Resources

This insightful article written by Dr. Cherkes-Julkowski provides an excellent explanation of how writing expectations will change as students advance from elementary school to high school. There are also tips on how to support your students at each grade level.

Writing can be challenging for children with LD. Those who have difficulties with reading and language, spelling, memory, attention, organization, sequencing, and fine motor coordination often struggle with both handwriting and written expression. As kids move up in school, the situation is complicated by the need to acquire, prioritize, and organize information in a meaningful way.

Helping children master these important skills requires understanding their specific problems and addressing them with strategies that have proved to be successful.

The complete article “Tackling Writing Problems” is from the website, Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities.
